Hotel History

Its appearance perfectly suits neo-romanticism

This summer house was built in 1912 by a prominent entrepreneur from Preko, Carlo Dunatov. It was built according to the project of the Zadar engineer L. Pividori, who invested a lot of effort to achieve a perfect balance between the Neo-Renaissance forms and a rustic ground floor whose elements still adorn this luxurious villa.

Its appearance perfectly suits neo-romanticism, as well as other suburban villas built in Zadar in that period do. Its architecture is characterized by a simplified form with a side-mounted two-storey "tower" next to a one-storey house, and the only decorative element was a neo-Gothic trifora and an arcade under the bay window - a prominent window on the side of the house.

If we looked at the picture from 1927, we would notice two differently oriented gabled roofs, a double window on the floor of the "tower" and a neo-Gothic triforium on the bay window.

It is interesting to note that the Salvi family placed a niche on the outside of the fence wall, which is decorated with a statue of St. Ante who is the protector of travelers and lost things, as if they predicted that this mansion with a long tradition will one day become a hotel where visitors will come to relax during their vacation.

Enriched by the long gastronomic tradition of the Dunatov family, this mansion is today becoming a real diamond, a hotel close to the crystal clear sea. Dunatovi Dvori Heritage Hotel exudes warmth and love invested in every detail of its construction, but also the continuous engagement of all staff to provide their guests with an oasis of peace and an unforgettable vacation.
